Almost every year, a few companies among the DJIA 30 spin off divisions which then trade as independent companies. And since each one is handled differently, there's never an easy way to figure out the revised cost basis in the parent company and the new basis in the spun-off company. Because so many readers want help with this question, we'll keep a running record here of any spin-offs throughout the year related to DJIA companies that may be in your Foolish Four portfolios.
