Earning Some Time Off

Augusta, GA (April 9, 1999) -- Remember a few weeks ago when I was ranting and raving about the NCAA tournament and how there are certain times when stock prices and market caps don't matter in life? Well, this weekend is another of my hugely favorite sporting events, the Masters. The azaleas and dogwoods are in glorious full bloom for this sacred event, and I couldn't be happier. Even more exciting is the fact that Greg Norman is leading the tournament at 5-under par right now.

While Greg Norman is 5-under, how are the Workshop Screens doing? As of this afternoon, 7 of the 10 screens we track were beating both the Nasdaq and the Standard & Poor's 500 Index for the year. You can click here for the latest returns (posted by 7pm), but the top 5 performing screens are:

Relative Strength-26 wk    +44.01%
Spark 5                    +34.31%
Beta                       +33.92%
Formula 90                 +28.49%

The relative strength screens continue to outpace the market averages (and most everything else!). I'm also very pleased to see two of our newly followed screens this year, Spark 5 and Beta, doing exceptionally well. The Beta screen is doing this well despite the drop in Network Associates <% if gsSubBrand = "aolsnapshot" then Response.Write("(Nasdaq: NETA)") else Response.Write("(Nasdaq: NETA)") end if %>, down 75%, which makes the returns that much more impressive. Spark 5 and RS-IBD are the only two screens without a single losing stock. Awesome, just awesome.
