The Daily Workshop Report

LEXINGTON, KY. (April 9, 1998) -- Tomorrow's a market holiday, Fools, so this week's Workshop updates are going to be a little off kilter. I won't make any guarantees as to when I get the new rankings posted over the weekend, but I will get them up (at least on the AOL site) as soon as possible. The transfer to the Web site is somewhat at the mercy of the webmasters' weekend plans. Bear with us in these unusual weeks.

Today, I'd like to update the year-to-date returns for the Keystone 30. This is the group that began on January 2 (using closing values on 12/31/97). The stocks are listed in their Keystone order at the beginning of the year and returns do not include dividends. (In my weekly updates to the Workshop returns, I do include dividends in the total return and for the Standard & Poor's 500 index.)

A number of you have asked when my book, The Unemotional Investor, will be available. According to my publisher, Simon & Schuster, the official release date is May 12. The books apparently were shipped from the warehouse Tuesday, however, so some bookstores will undoubtedly have them before the official release date. An unnamed White House source informed me that Amazon.com may even begin shipping the books to fill their advance orders as soon as April 20. So if you've reserved a copy through Amazon.com, first, my thanks, and second, it may only be another two weeks or so before you receive it. Be kind... my Acme Thick Skin kit hasn't arrived yet.
