The Company

HCIA is situated in the database market of the healthcare industry where there are very few significant competitors. The company's databases and products are used to benchmark clinical performance and outcomes, profile best practices, and manage the cost and delivery of healthcare. Due to downward earnings guidance, the stock experienced a blip recently. Trading at 34x 1997 earnings estimates, HCIA is still in line with the historical valuation of the HIT group.

Latest Financials

For the second quarter ended June 30, 1997, revenue and the net loss per share were $19.2 million and $(0.18), respectively, compared with revenue and net income per share (excluding the effect of a one-time charge) of $16.5 million and $0.24 for the second quarter of 1996.
