Other services include a variety of life insurance products, annuities, management services, and group pensions and pension plan management and advice. Latest Financials Aetna announced first quarter 1997 operating earnings from continuing operations (excluding an unusual item) of $186.8 million, or $1.14 per common share, compared with $124.1 million, or $1.07 per common share, in the first quarter of 1996. First quarter 1996 results exclude U.S. Healthcare, which merged with Aetna on July 19, 1996. Operating earnings increased 42% over 1996 first quarter operating earnings of $131.1 million, or $0.78 per common share, on a pro forma basis (including U.S. Healthcare).
