Duel Flashback:
Oracle
Six months ago we staged a battle over database software giant Oracle <% if gsSubBrand = "aolsnapshot" then Response.Write("(Nasdaq: ORCL)") else Response.Write("(Nasdaq: ORCL)") end if %>. David Forrest (TMF Bogey) was our bull and Jim Surowiecki was our bear. Our Voting Fools sided with David. Who proved to be the ultimate oracle?
From a share price of $28 3/4 when we first ran the Duel, David took the early lead only to relinquish it when the technology stocks corrected. As a matter of fact, just a month ago the shares dipped below $20 a pop. They raced back, but not fast enough -- closing out the six-month period at $26 13/16, a scant 6.7% loss over that time.
Victory? The seemingly unbeatable Jim Surowiecki!
