The Daily IFG Report (FOOL GLOBAL WIRE) by Robert Sheard (MF DowMan) NEW YORK, NY. (August 13): Fortunately, my new laptop is holding up well and the data gathering went well today (which explains why this is so tardy tonight - expect the same for much of the next two weeks). I wish I could say the day went as well for the IFG stocks, but I can't. The nearly 2% drop today puts the classic model down near break-even, trailing the market indices. Yet I'm cheered by the strength of the Relative Strength models and hope that this data gathering bears out my suspicion about that element being a better final screen than the Value Line Industry Ranking. If not, then it will have been a gloriously time-consuming failure, but heck, that's part of the scientific method and research in general. Make a hypothesis, test it, and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Half the fun is in testing the ideas (although you probably won't be able to convince me of that come about Thursday or Friday of next week). Stay Foolish!!
