(FOOL GLOBAL WIRE) LEXINGTON, KY. (August 5): The IFG Portfolio had a case of the Monday blues today, dropping 1.7% in a generally flat market. There's nothing really to be made of today, so I won't go looking for trouble. Suffice it to say that no one should lose sleep over days like this. The Nasdaq slipped a little more than the Dow and the S&P 500, and with it, so goes IFG.
In news announcements, 3Com <% if gsSubBrand = "aolsnapshot" then Response.Write("(NASDAQ:COMS)") else Response.Write("(NASDAQ:COMS)") end if %> is now shipping its first Fast Ethernet network interface card (NIC) for the Industry Standard Architecture (ISA) bus -- the Fast EtherLink ISA 10/100BASE-TX Parallel Tasking NIC.
The Fast EtherLink ISA 10/100 NIC, part of 3Com's complete, enterprise-wide Fast Ethernet offering, provides customers with an easy migration path to high-speed networking while maximizing the investment in and extending the life of ISA PCs. Well, of course, I knew that!
And finally, Hewlett-Packard <% if gsSubBrand = "aolsnapshot" then Response.Write("(NYSE:HWP)") else Response.Write("(NYSE:HWP)") end if %> said it signed an agreement to buy Trellis Software & Controls Inc., a motion-control software company based in Rochester Hills, Mich. The acquisition should enhance HP's expertise in precision motion control, it said. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
