(FOOL GLOBAL WIRE) LEXINGTON, KY. (August 1): I admit it; I screwed up. When I signed on last night to host my chat and couldn't find a room with my name on it, I realized that July had five Wednesdays. Since I'm slated to host chats on the first and third Wednesdays of each month, last night wasn't my night after all. Mea culpa. Join me next Wednesday at 9:00 (eastern). Really ... no Fooling ... I'll be there.
The Nasdaq scored a victory today and pulled the IFG portfolio along with it. A nice bounce in technology stocks helped the laggard model portfolio out some. Heck, a couple more days like this and we might even scratch our way out of the hole. Fortunately, the Relative Strength model portfolios are doing considerably better than is the Classic version. And as I mentioned yesterday, the monthly RS model will be updated using tomorrow's new rankings. Look for details this weekend.
Todd Gunerman's IFG Scan portfolio was updated today. (Todd's portfolio is updated on the first trading day of each month.) Cisco Systems <% if gsSubBrand = "aolsnapshot" then Response.Write("(NASDAQ:CSCO)") else Response.Write("(NASDAQ:CSCO)") end if %> and Autozone <% if gsSubBrand = "aolsnapshot" then Response.Write("(NYSE:AZO)") else Response.Write("(NYSE:AZO)") end if %> were replaced in his portfolio by Green Tree <% if gsSubBrand = "aolsnapshot" then Response.Write("(NYSE:GNT)") else Response.Write("(NYSE:GNT)") end if %> and Household International <% if gsSubBrand = "aolsnapshot" then Response.Write("(NYSE:HI)") else Response.Write("(NYSE:HI)") end if %>. For more details on the IFG Scan portfolio and Todd's model, check out the IFG Statistics Center each weekend.
The only news for our current IFG holdings today was yet another price reduction by Hewlett-Packard <% if gsSubBrand = "aolsnapshot" then Response.Write("(NYSE:HWP)") else Response.Write("(NYSE:HWP)") end if %>. The company is slashing prices on its CopyJet and CopyJet M color printer-copiers by more than 25%. HP is looking to solidify its market share in the low-end color copier market with this round of price cuts.
Stay Foolish!
