(FOOL GLOBAL WIRE) LEXINGTON, Ky. (June 24): It was a light day for Investing for Growth news. And overall, it was a disappointing day for the model even as the Nasdaq continued Friday's bounce back from the shellacking of the previous ten days.
Checkpoint Systems <% if gsSubBrand = "aolsnapshot" then Response.Write("(NYSE:CKP)") else Response.Write("(NYSE:CKP)") end if %>, which has been one of the mainstays of the IFG Portfolio this quarter, announced another new retail security system product today. Checkpoint launched its Freeze Frame 35 mm hold-up camera, which is used to provide high-quality photographs of armed burglaries.
Designed to be used in convenience, drug, and liquor stores, the camera's usually installed near the cash registers and is activated by a wireless or fixed emergency button. The film can be developed by local authorities within minutes in order to distribute a photo of the criminal. The advantage of Checkpoint's system over current security cameras is the resolution. The 35 mm image is much clearer than that of VCR cameras or video printers.
As a little bit of advance notice, Todd Gunerman's IFG Scan model variation will be updated this weekend. All of the other variations will be updated using the July 5, 1996 data. I'll keep you posted on all of the details. If you have any questions, please post them in the IFG message folder (in the section of the boards called Let's Talk Investment Approaches). I'll try to get you an answer the same day, if possible.
