(FOOL GLOBAL WIRE)
NORTHVILLE, Mi., May 31 -- Greetings, fine Fools! It's me, Elwood, last-minute fill-in for the irrepressible MF DowMan. Think of me as the alternate juror, the pageant runner-up, the understudy -- ready to step in at the drop of a hat to take over the duties of the big star. For those of you that are up front in the expensive seats and are anxious to see the DowMan back on stage, he'll be right back atcha on Monday.
Lets go right to the big news of the day....Wham! The IFG model portfolio smashed the indices like a Claude Lemieux check from behind to an unsuspecting Kris Draper, leaving both stunned and frightened. IFG was up 3.33% today compared to a 0.81% gain in the NASDAQ and a -0.29% stumble for the S&P 500.
The heavy hitter in tonight's line-up was Checkpoint Systems <% if gsSubBrand = "aolsnapshot" then Response.Write("(Nasdaq:CKP)") else Response.Write("(Nasdaq:CKP)") end if %>, which rushed forward 4-7/8 after the Cabot Market Newsletter issued a buy recommendation via its telephone hotline Thursday night. Cabot editor Tim Lutts opined that Checkpoint's charts look super with sales and earnings growing at better than a 60% clip. Impressive growth rate. The *Charts* I'll leave to Mr. Lutts. This Fool much more relishes the low-key, low-stress, highly-Foolish investing style of IFG.
Well, Dear Readers, that's about all the news for the day. The other holdings bobbed and weaved on no major news. Not a squeak. It's a fabulous Friday with Summer just around the bend. Enjoy the weekend. Enjoy life. And by all means, people, Stay Foolish!
