The Daily IFG Report

(FOOL GLOBAL WIRE)
by Robert Sheard (MF DowMan)

LEXINGTON, Ky. (May 21): Computer Associates <% if gsSubBrand = "aolsnapshot" then Response.Write("(NYSE:CA)") else Response.Write("(NYSE:CA)") end if %> continues to set record highs in anticipation of tomorrow's earnings report. The stock added a half to yesterday's hefty advance to close today at $81 1/8. "There's a little anticipation in advance of the earnings report," said Merrill Lynch analyst Steve McClellan. "They have been overacheiving the consensus to a reasonable degree for several quarters now." The First Call consensus for the fourth quarter ended March 31 calls for earnings of $1.03 per share.

Also tomorrow, RoTech Medical <% if gsSubBrand = "aolsnapshot" then Response.Write("(NASDAQ:ROTC)") else Response.Write("(NASDAQ:ROTC)") end if %> will split 2-for-1. So make sure you adjust your cost basis and number of shares tonight so tomorrow's new price doesn't make you call the company looking for more than Investor Relations!

A very light news day for the IFG group. The only things crossing the wire were several companies responding to Oracle's announcement yesterday of the new division to exploit the low-cost easy-access NC (Network Computer) and announcing that they'll be building products which will tie into the new approach championed by Oracle, Sun Microsystems, IBM, and others.

Looking ahead, starting Friday morning, I'll be taking a week's vacation, so for this weekend, there won't be the usual weekend update in the IFG Statistics Center. None of the model portfolios updates this weekend, so there are no changes which will go unreported. If some enterprising Fools wish to post their own updates in the IFG folder, by all means, you're welcome to do so. I'll return on June 1, so that weekend's reports will be posted as usual, sometime late Saturday or early Sunday.

We'll try to set up the week where there will be a minimum of disruption in the reports and numbers each day, but bear with the people who will be covering for me. It's not like they don't already have enough to do without covering my corner of Fooldom as well.

Have a good evening, Fools!
