LEXINGTON, KY. (Sept. 2, 1997) -- In recent weeks, there has been a lot of discussion about whether the party is over for large-cap (Blue Chip) stocks, or whether sticking with these iron horses is a great way to get to the big city. But just what stocks are we really talking about?
Here's a list of the 100 largest American stocks based on market capitalization (listed here in millions of dollars). Market capitalization is calculated by multiplying the number of outstanding shares by the current price per share. (The data in this list comes from Value Line for Windows and is dated as of August 27.)
