Last night, CYRIX CORP. <% if gsSubBrand = "aolsnapshot" then Response.Write("(Nasdaq: CYRX)") else Response.Write("(Nasdaq: CYRX)") end if %> joined the Let's-Sue-Intel Jamboree. The big announcement yesterday was that DIGITAL EQUIPMENT <% if gsSubBrand = "aolsnapshot" then Response.Write("(NYSE: DEC)") else Response.Write("(NYSE: DEC)") end if %> is suing the mega-giant chip-maker for patent infringement.
Cyrix tagged along today, claiming Intel is infringing on patents that, get this, were just granted yesterday, and have to do with the new multimedia distinction "MMX." Talk about wasting no time! Intel survived the choppy session today, gaining 50 cents after losing nearly $7 a share yesterday. Tough week in Santa Clara, but sitting on billions of cash and commanding an 85% - 90% market share, Intel's in a position to flourish. (Yes, I own Intel, as I've mentioned here before. No secret, that.)
Switching gears, each day I post the year-to-date returns for the Growth Screens based on a monthly update. I don't often (have I ever?) post a similar list in one place for the quarterly or semi-annual holding periods, though. Today, then, I'm including those rankings as well and will try to remember to do so periodically to give you an idea which screens are leading the race over longer holding periods. Fool on!
