LEXINGTON, Kentucky (January 20) -- We're Moving! It's official. The moving van is here, the packers are gently doing their stuff and the route is all planned. Sometime in the wee hours of the night tonight or tomorrow morning, the Foolish Workshop moves to its new home in the Stock Research area. (This is primarily for the benefit of our AOL readers only. Web readers have already enjoyed easy access to the Workshop as part of the Fool's School and Hall of Portfolios, where I believe the Workshop will remain on the Web.)
For those of you following the Investing for Growth daily write-ups, we're not abandoning you by any means. But as IFG is one of several similar screens we now follow, we decided to include it in the Workshop instead of the other way around (hiding the Workshop in the IFG area).
So the IFG nightly report will be replaced by the write-up in the Workshop each night. And I'll be linking in all of the material from the Investing for Growth Statistics Center to the Workshop area. Nothing will be deleted on that score.
So, let's draw some maps for everyone who will be looking for the new material. The Foolish Workshop will now be included as a main button in the Stock Research area as well as in the Hall of Portfolios area.
The IFG report is replaced by the Workshop nightly report, but the IFG data and history files will all still be available in the Workshop area.
The best thing to do is click those favorite places hearts and add the Workshop areas you visit often to your list. That way the move won't throw you off. You can go directly to the Workshop pages by clicking your favorite places.
As for new content, over the weekend, I separated the information for the various screens into two collections. In one collection, we still have the page for my nightly report and the series of introductory essays describing the screens themselves and the step-by-step directions to generate the current rankings. Each of those essays contains a link to the file holding the current rankings and year-to-date performance results for that screen.
The second collection, called Workshop Data, includes the complete Workshop Database and the current rankings and performance results. So once you're familiar with the screens, you can go straight to the current numbers and not have to wade through material you don't need to read daily. Again, add this page to your favorite places list and go straight there everyday to see the updated numbers.
I hope you like the new format, as well as the more convenient location. As always, join us on the message boards for further discussion of all things related to the Workshop!
