The Motley Fool Launches Fool
UK
ALEXANDRIA, Va., Sept. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- The Motley Fool
(http://www.fool.com; AOL keyword "fool")
today announced the launch of Fool UK, a site designed specifically to meet
the investment and personal finance needs of the United Kingdom. The site
is now up and running on AOL UK, 24 hours a day, seven days a week waiting
on all comers.
"This is a fully staffed UK-based site about the UK stock market for UK
investors," said David Gardner, co-founder of The Motley Fool, among America's
top Internet brands. "It is run by talented British writers with an unusual
gift for Foolish truth-telling about finances, in plain language -- jokes
about the City notwithstanding."
The Motley Fool UK will include "Beating the Footsie," a simple way for investors
to beat the market, and "Ten Steps To Investing Foolishly," designed to educate
and inform UK readers about personal finance and their stock market. Integral
as well to Foolishness, participants from the four corners of the UK will
be coming together in a single large interactive community to share information
on stocks, companies, products and personal finance.
Devon's own David Berger, medical doctor and Chief British Fool, views The
Motley Fool UK as a natural and inevitable progression: "Where else could
The Motley Fool have gone for its first venture off the North American content,
but to its own Shakespearean and ancestral home? Indeed, Great Britain and
the United States share far more similarities than they do differences, and
the tried and tested formula of The Motley Fool will not fail to win over
the British public. We seek nothing less than the total empowerment of the
British personal investor ... and intend to have just as much fun achieving
it!"
Members of AOL UK can access The Motley Fool UK by typing in the keyword
"Fool UK." Members of the U.S. version of AOL can access it by typing keyword
"UK" and then clicking the "Finance" button.
The Motley Fool, Inc. operates the most comprehensive personal finance and
investment site on the Internet and on America Online. The Fool's online
areas serve more than 600,000 households each month by providing financial
information, education, strategies, and jokes. The Motley Fool's weekly column
is currently syndicated in more than 80 newspapers in the United States.
