What's New in ValuTool 2.0 With the March '98 release of ValuTool 2.0, Fools can now do all of the following: 1. Sort stocks by various criteria (PEG, Market Cap, etc) In the old version of ValuTool, you did all of this hard work to imput the stock stuff, and then you stored it into your file. What could you do with it? Ummm, retrieve it. What else? Nothing. With VT 2.0, you can do lots with the info. You can, for example, sort the list by the stocks with the lowest PEG, or with the best DSO, or with the highest market cap. 2. Include custom data In the past, ValuTool has asked for scads of data, and then combined that data into some pretty nifty combinations. Now, we're letting the user add some data points of his or her own. Interested in subscriber based valuations? Then enter the number of subscribers. Interested in valuations based upon the CEO's shirt size? Then create that instead. You can include up to 6 custom data points. 3. Include notes for a stock Yup... the much requested "Notes" feature where you can write yourself a note about this stock. Can't do much with the notes, but when you come back later to say "Why did I care about this dog?" you'll know. 4. Import and Export stocks to share with others Now you can import and export your stock data to share with Fools the globe over. 5. Set valuation flags You can now set a handful of valuation flags, and then import the prices whenever you'd like. That way, when today's price drives the P/E below 15 (or whatever flag you set), you can be alerted to that so you'll know when to go out and buy the darned thing. 6. Update quotes online If you get your quotes from quote.fool.com, from Yahoo or from AOL's Portfolios, you can use that information to update your ValuTool portfolio. This will affect the ratios and the flags that you have stored, and may be done as often as you'd like.
