An Addict's Lament
by ([email protected])
I'm an On-Line Trader and I ought to be ashamed of myself.
We were all warned of the dangers of using the internet and the "infamous" discount brokers. I know that it seemed to make sense not to pay the huge commissions of the full service brokers. After all, with the disgraceful performance of our 401(k) funds, I knew in my heart that I could do better. Sure enough, within four weeks, I had pocketed $950.00.
But as it turned out, I was just being greedy and selfish. My actions and those of the thousands of other investors that left the full service brokers are now responsible for hundreds of these poor souls losing their jobs. I hope I can live with this tragedy. After all they were just trying to make a living.
I will think of these poor, displaced people -- while I'm trying to figure out a way to keep Uncle Sam from taking my profits as capital gains.
Still ashamed,
