Why Did It Take So Long?
By GIBKEN

It's a long story, and I know you don't want to hear it, so I will cut to the point. In February 1974, due to unusual circumstances, I was forced to become an investor (a money manager). Having no experience whatsoever, it has been a slow trial-and-error existence. As you see, however, I am still around.

My point is that if I could have had The Motley Fool Investment Guide twenty four years ago, I would not have had to make so many errors. By experience I know that what is taught in this book is correct; it will work.

I doubt that I would have believed what the book said, had I read it twenty four years ago, but today I have the scars to prove that most, if not all, of the advice is correct. To anyone inexperienced in the investment field, my admonition to you is to believe it; don't wait to get the scars to prove it.
