The Birds, the Beasts & the Bat

Once all the Birds went to war against all the Beasts and it was a terrible fight on the message boards.

The Bat, who looked a little like both a Bird and a Beast, tried to guess which side would win so he could save his own skin.

Early in the message battle it looked as though the Birds would win, so the Bat flew around with them and pretended to be one of them, but he really didn't have anything to add to the debate, he was just watching and disrupting.

Pretty soon, however, the Beasts were getting the best of the Birds, and when he saw this, the Bat deserted the Birds. He flopped down on the ground and said to the Beasts, "Look at me, I look just like a Mouse. I am one of you and am helping you fight those wicked Birds."

Well, by the time the whole battle was over, the Birds had won, after all, and they knew by now what a cheat and traitor the Bat was to both sides. So they chased him away to the Day-Trading area -- and ever since then all Bats have skulked and hidden away in the daytime as though they were ashamed of themselves, and come out only at night to disrupt the chat rooms under anonymous screen names.

The Point --- The man who turns against his own side soon finds both sides turned against him.
