Iomega's Big Week
(A Poem for Q2 Earnings)
by MF
Jeanie
We are very tired.
We are very weary.
We study this board
with
eyes that are bleary.
With hope in our heart
and fear in our belly,
we're glued to the
Fool,
with dinner from the deli.
The 90-day clock
is ticking away....
Will Intel boost us?
What
will Compaq say?
Remember in April?
The stock didn't stray
beyond 4 or 5 points
for
day after day...
Then finally it came,
the earnings were announced.
Our worries were
over as
estimates were trounced.
What's different this time?
A Wise War for starters.
But Iomegans
refuse
to be treated as martyrs.
So now it's July, and
the stock price is down.
Iomega's been
bloodied
by every bear in town.
Our Springtime innocence
was lost to the Street.
We're now Summer
Warriors
and we still won't be beat.
A few in our ranks
stopped out on the way
as margin calls bagged
them
like snipers with prey.
The survivors cry "charge"
as we go into this week.
Battle scarred,
yes...
but these Fools aren't meek.
We've crunched the numbers.
Checked channels east to west.
Searched
in vain for the LS...
Had a post mortem on Syquest.
And all of this homework
turns up just one fact:
there's only one
company
who's really on track.
Iomega's a winner!
Soon everyone will know.
This quarter will prove
it.
Now, ON WITH THE SHOW.
