The Wolf and the Crane
by MF Dowman

A broker named Wolf was having his dinner one day, munching on some client ... er, animal ... he had killed in the morning, when a bone (quota) got stuck in his throat. He went howling all over the place, begging every client ... er, animal ... he cold-called to help him and promising a big reward (profit) to anyone who could get the bone out.

No clients could feel very sorry for him, when they knew, after all, that the bone in his throat might easily have been one of theirs.

But finally a Crane said, if the Wolf would really give the reward, he would help him. So he stuck his long neck (and hard-earned savings) way down the Wolf's throat and pulled out the bone. Then he asked for his reward.

"Reward?" sneered the Wolf. "Why, don't be Foolish. You had your reward when I didn't bite your head off. Now get out of here and don't talk so much. Churn 'em and burn 'em."

The Point --- Some people just don't deserve to be helped.
