In my months of being part of the Motley Fool community I have met many interesting characters online. There are some very intelligent, insightful Fools hanging around, Fools who specialize in number crunching, Fools who analyze all leading companies in a particular industry, Fools who make up their own investment/portfolio management techniques, among other things. There are Fools who know a little, Fools who know a lot. What brings everyone together here is a commonality of purpose and sharing, just like society. Every society needs art to mirror itself. In this spirit, I will don the minstrel cloak, pick up an electric lute, and submit what I believe to be the first entry in the Motley Fool songbook.
Modestly titled "God, Part 3," this song is blatantly stolen from U2's "God, Part 2" on the Rattle and Hum CD. That song was stolen/influenced by "God, Part 1" by John Lennon. Thus we have a songwriting lineage from John Lennon to Bono to Skysaxman. No, the word hubris doesn't mean anything to me, but thanks for asking. If anyone were mentally imbalanced enough to actually want to sing this, it would be to the tune of "God, Part 2." When you're done reading this, you may also understand why I am an instrumentalist rather than a lyricist.
Disclaimer to anyone mentioned in this song. Please take it in the spirit in which it was written---to have a little fun. Artistic license was taken, but everyone in here has positively influenced me in some way, either through direct E-mail, discussions in stock posts or other folders, or me just checking out your ideas. Without further ado---
God, Part 3
Don't believe in Motley
Don't believe in Fools
Don't believe in any group
That tries to lay down rules.
Don't believe in buy and hold
Don't believe in Beat the Dow
You've got to stay more flexible
And watch the here and now.
With high tech stocks rising
40% and some
There has to be a place
For playing momentum.
I-I-I believe in love.
(Guitar riff--do, do, do, do, do, do.)
Don't believe in Templar
He's too Neo for me
Got everybody talkin'
Contrarian philosophy.
Don't believe in Bogey
Too many numbers in his head
Hey Bogey, lighten up
Try emotional investing instead.
Another thing about Bogey
He's gone too Hollywood
What's with all these Awards Nights?
But they are really good.
I-I-I believe in love.
(Guitar riff--do, do, do, do, do, do.)
Don't believe in MF HiTech
Although I don't know why
Every stock he picks
Seems to soar into the sky.
Don't believe in RevShark
Or even Lizzard King.
All you day traders
Can do your own thing.
Don't believe in Dowman,
Belle or House of Feste.
I don't think your returns
Have beaten all the rest.
I-I-I believe in love.
(Guitar riff--do, do, do, do, do, do.)
Don't believe in death row
Skid row or gangs
Don't believe in Uzi
It just went off in my hand.
(Hey, how did that verse get in there?)
Don't believe in MOM1111
I'll whisper to you why
I think this cyberbabe
Might just be a spy.
Don't believe in Paul Wick
Or Louis Navellier
But I have "borrowed" their ideas
They've helped to make my year.
I-I-I believe in love.
(Guitar riff--do, do, do, do, do, do.)
Everybody knows Skysaxman
Believes in A M A T
That's because this stock
Has been so good to me.
Don't care how much you hate him
I believe in Bill Gates
That's why MSFT has my money
He puts food on my plate.
I'll tell you all a secret
These lines are mostly lies
I DO believe in Motley Fool
They've opened up my eyes.
The cyberstock revolution
Is going on full swing
So come on all you Fools
Keep doing that Foolish thing!
