& Co., Merrill Lynch & Co., and Morgan Stanley & Co. underwrote
the offering of 29,500,000 shares at an initial offering price of $26. Shares
jumped to $32 1/8 at the open and closed the day at $31 1/2.
Ralph Lauren, mostly known for his clothing lines, has successfully ventured
into other markets such as home fashion and fragrances. He follows a long
line of designers who have brought their companies to the public -- some
