The Daily Economic News Report Friday, July 19, 1996 |
| The University of Michigan's preliminary estimate of consumer
sentiment for July became available this morning. Compared to recent months,
it seems that consumers are pretty optimistic about present and future economic
conditions. From June to July, the sentiment index rose from 92.4 to 93.0.
This was the second consecutive monthly advance. The only higher reading
in the past sixteen months was the March reading of 93.7.
