Duel Flashback:
Gillette

September 29, 1999

Duracell batteries. Papermate pens. And, oh, yeah, those razors! Six months ago we took Gillette <% if gsSubBrand = "aolsnapshot" then Response.Write("(NYSE: G)") else Response.Write("(NYSE: G)") end if %> and all its brands and went equity window shopping. Louis Corrigan (TMF Seymor) liked Gillette. Warren Gump (TMF Gump) figured the company had long outlived its five o'clock shadow.

While our Voting Fools sided with Louis, the shares went on to slide 35.5% lower. Ouch, that's one nasty nick.

Victory? Warren Gump. Congrats.
