Duel Flashback:
3Com

Half a year ago we had another battle over a networking specialist -- 3Com <% if gsSubBrand = "aolsnapshot" then Response.Write("(Nasdaq: COMS)") else Response.Write("(Nasdaq: COMS)") end if %>. Paul Larson (TMF Parlay) was bullish on the combined 3Com-U.S. Robotics company. Jim Surowiecki was quite bearish.

This one did not prove to be a blowout as many of our past Duels have been. Shares of 3Com traded in a pretty tight range relative to the volatile market around it. In the end, the shares fell from $32 3/16 to $27 3/8, a 15% slide over the past six months.

Our Foolish voters sided with Paul -- leaving Jim to fill the shoes of boxing great Rocky Marciano in a quest to retire undefeated.

Victory? Jim Surowiecki!
