Ford Tough
Ford price (9/29/98): $49 1/8

Have you driven a Ford Duel lately? This week we turn to Detroit in hopes of catching a glimpse of the new line of 1999 Duelists. They are rolling off the assembly line now, so let's take a look...

He's sleek. He's stylish. He's bullish. He's Paul Larson (TMF Parlay), a fan of Ford. Paul doesn't find many household brands trading as cheaply as the biggest of the Big Three in terms of market cap.

Also on the showroom stage this week is Rick Munarriz (TMF Edible). He's mean. He's bearishly obscene. He comes with factory standard anti-lock brakes.

And don't miss this week's Duel Flashback, where we look back at our amped up bout over online music merchant N2K <% if gsSubBrand = "aolsnapshot" then Response.Write("(Nasdaq: NTKI)") else Response.Write("(Nasdaq: NTKI)") end if %>.

You Get to Vote!

Once you've read the arguments and the rebuttals, it's your time to cast your vote. We'll tabulate results each week and revisit them from time to time to see whether you were right! As always, we invite you to join us in the Dueling Fools Message board to continue the duel.

[Any suggestions, comments, praise, or flames, please send them along to the Dueling Fools Team.]

Ford, despite its colorful history, looks to be a financial clunker from here on out. You might be enamored with the legacy of Henry Ford, or even your new Ford Expedition, but if we take a look under the hood we see nothing behind this four-letter-word. Horsepower? Neigh.
