The company owns Georgia Power, Alabama Power, Mississippi Power, and Gulf Power, providing a steady 6% dividend off an ever-increasing base of international operations. The Southern Energy subsidiary designs, builds, owns and operates power production and delivery facilities and provides a broad range of technical services to industrial companies and utilities in the U.S. and a number of international markets. For the three months ended March 1997, revenues rose 6% to $2.58 billion.
Net income applied to common shares fell 20% to $187 million. Results reflect
the acquisition of CEPA, offset by capital expenditures and acquisition costs.
For the quarter ended June 1997, revenues were $2.7 billion and after tax
earnings were $215 million.
