Omega has consistently traded at around a 10% discount to its peer group due in large part to the perception that it was handling operators with significant credit risk. The company employs a "middle market" based operating strategy that focuses on an overlooked niche consisting of smaller health care providers. Omega is primarily a mortgage REIT. Its portfolio includes 232 health care facilities with over 22,000 beds located in 26 states, operated by 35 independent health care operating companies. Omega is also an owner of and provides management and advisory services to Principal Healthcare Finance Ltd., a company that owns and leases 44 nursing home facilities located in the United Kingdom. Latest Financials Revenues for the 1997 first quarter were $20,012,000 vs. $17,174,000 for the first quarter of 1996. Funds From Operations increased 5.7% to $0.74 per share. Net earnings were $0.53 per share, compared to $0.49 per share for the 1996 period. Total assets reached $725 million at March 31, 1997.
