Seemingly appearing out of thin air, Netscape shipped (uploaded) 60 million units of software without the attendant difficulties involved with inventory and packaging. Netscape created the first truly digital product that realized phenomenal success with digital distribution. The company managed to grow year-over-year revenues from $85.4 million in 1995 to a heady $346.2 million in 1996.

Latest Financials

Netscape reported revenues totaling $120.2 million for the first quarter ending March 31, 1997, a 114% increase over revenues of $56.1 million for the same period in 1996. Net income for the first quarter 1997 was $7.9 million, or $0.09 per share, compared with $3.6 million, or $0.04 per share, in the same period a year ago.
