Multimedia The Company
AccelGraphics provides graphic boards for WinTel based 3D workstations and
utilizes 3D Labs as its principal chip supplier. The company is the leader
in the market for affordable "Personal Workstations" (under $10,000), as
rivals to the more expensive RISC/UNIX workstations At the center of ACCL's
strategy is working with professional software developers to "port" software
to the "Wintel/Accel" platform. The company has won important OEM contracts
with the likes of Hewlett-Packard and DEC, providing important earnings
visibility. Its high PSR of 3.76 raises some eyebrows in an industry where
downside earnings surprises are common. It's lack of following by analysts
may be contributing to some inefficiencies in its valuation.
