The Daily Dow LEXINGTON, KY. (October 10): The overall market continued its ever-so-slight losing streak this week on another day with little going on. The weekly job picture showed a little more strength than the Street expected this morning, contributing to the modest losses for stocks today. The real concern everyone seems focused on is Friday's inflation numbers. The consensus is that the wholesale inflation number (Producer Price Index) should be around 0.3% for the month, but some fear it'll be even higher, which could swat down the markets in the short-run. Like always, we watch these short-term events, but we certainly don't try to act on them, or worse, predict them. As for the Foolish Four portfolio today, no news to report, but DUPONT bucked the downward momentum and posted a gain of more than 1.5% on the day. It just turned out to be one of those days that reflected the weather here in Kentucky today. Kind of cold, rainy, nothing much happening. A good day to forget the market and clean out your desk or tackle that stack of unread classics. Transmitted: 10/10/96 Today's Dow Numbers
