The Daily Dow LEXINGTON, KY. (August 28): It looks like many Wall Streeters started the long holiday weekend a bit early. Today's session was anything but momentous, especially for the Dow Blue Chips. And while the Dow was essentially flat on the day, our Foolish Four portfolio stayed in the starting blocks after yesterday's spurt. Such is the way of the Street. No big deal. In fact, not even a medium deal. Just ... well, deal already, will ya?
The one bit of news today concerns 3M's offspring, Imation <% if gsSubBrand = "aolsnapshot" then Response.Write("(NYSE:IMN)") else Response.Write("(NYSE:IMN)") end if %>. Imation announced that it's reached an agreement to acquire Luminous Corp., a Seattle developer and marketer of desktop software to the pre-press, print production, printing and graphic arts industries.
Luminous will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Imation, which already has a strong digital capability through its Rainbow digital color proofing systems and Color Locking Software, and will enjoy the added strength of Luminous' portfolio of market-leading desktop pre-press software products and future technology platforms.
