ALEXANDRIA, Va, 5/24/96 -- Next week while DowMan's on vacation, MF Keys will be the guest recap writer for the Foolish Four. For today, though, you're stuck with me. Unfortunately for all of us, just about every possible thing that could have gone wrong today did. Well, Fool HQ did not actually explode, but I expect that a sinkhole will open up underneath us any minute now.

Enough of my complaining and excuse making -- on with the news... er, um... well, there was only one tiny bit of news on the wires. Chevron completed a sale of $105 million worth of property in California. Apparently, that's no great shakes, as Chevron slipped $5/8 on the day to $61 1/8.

My apologies for dashing off so quickly, I have to go put out a fire. Now where's my asbestos suit?
