LEXINGTON, Ky. (Apr. 26): A mildly up-and-down session closed out the week with the Blue Chip index virtually flat today. And it was an equally mixed day for the Foolish Four, with Chevron tacking on nearly 1% today, but DuPont continuing to slide after its disappointing earnings report earlier this week.

Chevron is one of many oil companies working to develop oil fields in the former Soviet Union and talks continued today between Russia, Kazakhstan, and Oman to resolve last-minute details before the three countries sign a landmark oil pipeline deal to send Kazakh crude to the Black Sea.

The proposed $1 billion pipeline would extend from Kazakhstan's giant Tengiz oilfield around the Caspian via Russia to the Black Sea. Chevron is one of the original partners in the Tengizchevroil venture to develop the six- to nine-billion barrel Tengiz field. With Chevron's status as the original partner in Tengiz and Mobil's 25% stake, they would be the principal customers of the proposed pipeline.

Kodak today announced a new television campaign under the theme line "Take Pictures. Further." Kodak's trying to feature its broad range of new products and services and to strengthen its brand appeal across a wider segment of the consumer and business sectors. Looking for more of those Kodak moments. You know your product is ubiquitous when your company name enters the language as a colloquialism. Kodak moments ... go make a Xerox ... hand me a Kleenex. Doesn't matter if you really use a Xerox copier or a Kleenex tissue, the name has become synonymous with the type of product. The key for these cultural icons is to make sure when you find yourself in a Kodak moment that you're reaching for a Kodak camera and Kodak film to capture it with.
