LEXINGTON, Ky. (Apr. 12): Despite a slump in high-priced Dow components like IBM and the oil stocks, the Blue Chip average regained some 45 points of this week's losses. Going into today's trading, the Dow looked on a pace to have its worst week in two years, but reasonably contained consumer inflation reports and somewhat weaker retail sales numbers boosted the bond market and pulled stocks up off the floor.

Unfortunately for Foolish Four followers, it wasn't a terrific day for any of the portfolio stocks except for DuPont, which made up a little of this week's losses. All-in-all, a week worth forgetting.

Kodak Goes Hollywood! DreamWorks SKG is incorporating Kodak technology into its current project, the animated film "The Prince of Egypt." DreamWorks has installed a Kodak Lightning digital film recorder in its Computer Animation Studio and also purchased Kodak's Cineon image compositing and retouching software for its Silicon Graphics workstations. Now if they can just get Robin Williams to do voice-overs ...

DuPont Photomasks has filed a registration statement with the SEC for an initial public offering with the proposed trading symbol of NASDAQ:DPMI. Morgan Stanley and Cowen & Co. are managing the IPO for the DuPont subsidiary. As the name suggests, DuPont Photomasks makes ... photomasks! ... high-purity quartz or glass plates containing precision images of integrated circuits, used as masters by semiconductor manufacturers who optically transfer these images onto semiconductor wafers.
