Boring Portfolio Report
Tuesday, February 13, 1996
How about that? What was shaping up to be a really ugly day in the wake of that disappointing book/bill number turned out to be not so bad after all. Boring, really. How nice.
As expected, Kulicke & Soffa got smacked around a bit today, down a full point on the bid side, to 21 1/2. After the closing bell today, Applied Materials reported what has to be regarded as impressive earnings for their quarter just ended, and this should help KLIC somewhat tomorrow.
The big news today for the Borefolio was Potash of Saskatchewan. POT gained 1 1/4 today. Folks are apparently anticipating a nice quarterly report from the company tomorrow morning. The Street is expecting $0.83 (in US currency), which would be a 51% gain over the year-ago quarter. The conference call begins at 11AM EST tomorrow, and I'll be listening.
Green Tree Financial announced its regular dividend today, of $0.0625 per share. GNT was down an 1/8th today.
And Texas Industries drifted down 3/8 on light volume.
That's about it! Come back tomorrow, and I'll report what I find out from our fertilizer friend to the north.
